O me gawd they did it, they just released the first PV to the new album! (Getting instant gastric ulcer on hearing news..) But people, keep your expectation normal, and by 'normal' I mean down...I dunno, me I felt a little disappointed. The tune was an odd piece, the opening even felt discordant somehow, although it got better towards the second half...Repeated listening needed, maybe? I still can't wait for the new album.
On a side note, this PV is probably the most expensive addition (if they didn't take the footages out of some documentary) to the line up of LP's always cheaply produced and ill-or-laughably-directed PVs (with few recent exceptions). BUT--no Kumi or Naoki for the entire thing?! The only animate things a bird and two goats kangaroos!? (some mammals, thank you! Oh wait, did they go to Australia by any chance?) It was as if we had seen too much of them lately or ever and would rather prefer some refreshing shots of nature. Victor records, have mercy on our hearts...
In other hearsay news, it is posted on last.fm forum that there will be a new compilation album due for release soon in the U.S., meant as the introduction to the American audience. Hmmm..

comment to self: after viewing another five times, i start to think if i should take back original comments on it being
ReplyDelete1) the most expensive
2) not ill or laughably directed
and/or 3) are those really kangaroos!?
though it does sound a lot better on repeated listening..
I hate popup comment boxes. It made my firefox stall like an idiot for 10s+. Well, that's still within tolerable range considering how retarded my laptop is. BUT!
ReplyDeleteAlrite, back to LP. I think, cough, we're seriously spamming our blog with LP rumours, LP news, LP anticipations, LP related fan sickness etc. That's why we should really work on that website and get it out the oven!
Alrite, back to Rain. I think, cough, it really ain't bad. Maybe I hold my anticipation down before watching that PV? The opening beats are just, nervously reminiscent. I thought, nonono, is LP dressing up their old tunes? Doesn't it sound a bit like 'This's a love song'? Or something else? I have a very itchy feeling.
Still they're trying something new, switching the keys (does sound a bit discordant but I guess), and a whole new approach to chorus. Can't remember Kumi blowing her lungs like that before (did she?). It's like a fresh minty shower. The sky breaks and you see oasis. Overall the song is very retro, and 'dry'(sort of off key rap) which contrasts well with the juicy chorus.
I'm thinking hard which's the most expensive LP PV ever made.I'll vote for 'Help me!'. That's my favourite, followed by 'Aha!', and 'Everybody needs somebody'.
haha zhu THAT is definitely the longest comment i ever seen..should we change the comment form to non-pop up?
ReplyDeletealrite, back to LP. i think, cough, by 'we' you meant 'jady', sobz. i knew i should have posted at least another three non-LP posts before slipping in some innocuous LP, inconspicuously...same reason i didn't post another rufus post the other day when a short segment of HIS first pv came out--which was pretty damn good btw. coughs..
(but if you look at tags, LP:5, rufus:7.)
(i lost my point..)
back to Rain. the rhythm and the structure was too dangerously close to their old stuff, i'm confident i can point out what is a rip-off of what after i'm done with bloody exams. the chorus redeems it a little, but just barely..man i just can't get over the odd tune!!
as for the cost--yeah i thought of HELP! too (another no LP appearance video..), the domino arrangement must have took lots of time and money to make. but i am still wondering about the cost they take to have a whole big meadow mown to LP logo..
sighs x100, next pv please.
Eh... they could do that meadow with CG? Same with all the block letters so the only cost would be outdoor photo taking which looks quite elaborate though. I don't know how they could do 'HELP!' without real models!
