Jewel is returning to her folk roots after the 0304 stint, releasing album GOODBYE ALICE IN WONDERLAND on 2nd May. news and review on the new album.
Zhu: added a promotional video on Jewel's upcoming album.
Heh, I still remember when no one knew about Jewel. I was part of the rabid underground fan base she had, and I have cassettes of her performances in coffee houses in San Diego. Boy was that a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she's returning to her folk roots...maybe I'll pick this one up.
Still downloading. It's werid. Her album's out on 2nd May and why is there already seed on emule? 'Again and again' sounds pretty pop. I wouldn't call it 'return to folk roots'. Hope other tracks on the album are more original. Sighs, guess it's impossible to return to the old 'Pieces of You' style.
ReplyDeleteStill popish? D'oh! Oh well, guess you can't go back.
ReplyDeleteImpressive that you have even cassettes of her performances Jeremy, what a treasure!
ReplyDeleteFrom the looks of the video I'd say no, it's really more pop than folksy stuff, and some shots (the look and/or expressions) had uncanny resemblance to a certain blonde hotel heiress, at least appears so to me..horrifying. i still wish the other tracks are closer to where she started. You can't go back but perhaps you can complete the journey by going a full circle and be at the beginning, changed but unchanged..that's the hope at least. Jewel..
If I still had some recordable tapes, I might try to make copies :-( They're going the way of the dodo. Maybe I can find something to back them up on CD. Then I can send them out over yousendit.
ReplyDeleteYeah, anything that reminds me of Paris Hilton makes me want to do the vomit comet.
